Welcome

We are pleased to welcome you on the information pages of the 101. Annual Meeting of the Deutsche Zoologische Gesellschaft. For the fourth time in the history of the meeting (after 1925, 1965 and 1994) it will take place in Jena this year - for good reasons: one hundred years ago the Phyletisches Museum opened its doors. It was a generous gift of Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) to Friedrich-Schiller-Universität on the occasion of the 350. anniversary of the university in 1908. Accordingly we will celebrate a double jubilee: 100 years of communicating theory of evolution and phylogeny within a unique museum, in addition to the 450. anniversary of the university. The museum itself will shine in new splendour, with an originally restored facade. However, looking back into history is not enough. Jena was nominated Stadt der Wissenschaft 2008 (City of Science 2008) and presents itself as a lively environment for studies and research. Thus we are looking into the future. Let's celebrate our past together. Let's have a look at the exciting present of our zoological sciences through our interesting meeting program. And finally, let's collectively move zoology into a prolific future.

Some guideposts

Our navigation bar follows the traditional arrangement of the last years meeting pages. Nevertheless, this year you will find some novelties in order to simplify navigation. The page is bilingual this year. You may switch language using the small flag icon on top (right side). On each single page you can switch to the corresponding page in the other language. Another novelty is our interactive Google map (in German only), which displays the most important locations (autitoriums, hotels, etc.). Please choose accordingly between map and satellite image.
We have pre-boocked a certain contingent of rooms at a number of hotels which offer special conditiopns for meeting participants. To make advantage of special conditions, please make sure you book your room yourself with the hotel of your choise. You will find hotel and hostel information and contacts on our travel & accomodation page.
Like last years, you will benefit from our online registration and account system which will allow you to keep your registration up to date. This function will be implemented in February 2008. In case of questions, don't hesitate to contact the meeting office.
