Rationale

Effect of carbon in soils is one of the central questions of the research group. This subproject investigates the effects of biodiversity on carbon storage in soils. The research focus is on the development of carbon stocks and on the export of dissolved carbon to the groundwater. Hence, this research provides quantification of the carbon budgets of the plots. In this context the carbon storage will be investigated by further subprojects (e.g. Consumers, Decomposers) and integrated in modeling subproject understanding effects and function of diversity.
