The glasshouses have been renovated and expanded in 1980-1983.
The entrance hall with exhibition vitrines (including an orchid vitrine) and the five glasshouses enclose an inner courtyard with African succulents, summer flowers and a heatable water lily basin.

The glasshouses in the sequence of the recommended round tour:

• the cacti and succulent house, where Old World and New World succulent plants including numerous cacti are cultivated, arranged according to systematic and phytogeographic aspects,
• the sclerophyllous and laurophyllous forest house, containing tree species of the subtropical evergreen forests,
• the palm house with tropical trees, palms, tropical crop and ornamental plants,
• the small "evolution house" where representatives of ancient plant groups are exhibited as for example cycads and tree ferns,
• and the Victoria house with a big water basin with the giant water lily (Victoria cruziana) with its exceptionally large floating leaves as well as other tropical swamp, mangrove, and water plant species and epiphytes.
