She plans to identify differential predictors for change in alcohol use of native and ethnic German adolescents. index April 2008 The special section "Research on Acculturation and Adjustment of Immigrants and Societal Response: Multicultural Perspectives" (edited by G. Fishman and G. Mesch) was published in the International Journal of Comparative Sociology, including two articles contributed by our research group. index March/May 2008 Results of our study were presented and discussed at the Biennial Meeting of the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA) in March 2008 in Chicago, US and at the 11th conference of the European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA) in May 2008 in Torino, Italy. index February 2008 A special section on "New research on acculturation among diaspora migrants", edited by R.K. Silbereisen was published in the International Journal of Psychology, including two contributions of our research group. index January 2008 Andrea Michel starts working as a research associate in the follow-up project Regulation of Developmental Transitions in Second Generation Immigrants in Germany and Israel. She is planning to write her dissertation on depression using longitudinal data from our project "The impact of Social and Cultural Adaptation of Juvenile Immigrants from the former Soviet Union in Israel and Germany on Delinquency and Deviant Behavior". index December 2007 Andrea Michel hands in her diploma thesis "Language use of ethnic German adolescents" (PDF). index October 2007 Several of our group members presented their current results at the International Fall School on Migration in Luckenwalde, Germany, where they were discussed with an international audience. index August 2007 The 13th European Conference on Developmental Psychology was held in Jena. Several studies derived from the project were presented at this conference in symposia together with international experts on acculturation. index June 2007 Doug Coatsworth, an expert in intervention on family relations, visits the Department of Developmental Psychology and the Center for Applied Developmental Science (CADS). index May 2007 Four American students from the Pennsylvania State University taking part in the exchange program of the Center for Applied Developmental Science (CADS) decided to start a study project on acculturation and alcohol consumption within the project. The results of this study project were presented at the Biennial Meeting of the Society for Research on Adolescence in March 2008 in Chicago (PDF). index February 2007 As a result of the fruitful discussions of the November symposium it was agreed to prepare a special issue on diaspora migrants in the International Journal of Psychology. Parts of our research will be reported there together with research on diaspora migrants in other countries. index January 2007 Katharina Stößel starts working as a research associate in the follow-up project Regulation of Developmental Transitions in Second Generation Immigrants in Germany and Israel. She is planning a dissertation thesis about the development and predictors of ethnic identity among ethnic German adolescents. index December 2006 Kerstin Kolk hands in her diploma thesis "The acculturation strategies of adolescent ethnic Germans in Germany - A longitudinal approach". Andrea Michel starts to work on her diploma thesis using data from the project. She plans to study changes in German language use of ethnic German adolescents. index November 2006 International Workshop on "Biographic Transitions of Immigrants: Education, Family, Profession" November 22-23, 2006 took place in Jena, Germany hosted by the German-Israeli Research Consortium "Migration and Societal Integration". International Symposium "Social and Cultural Adaptation of Diaspora Immigrants" November 23-25, 2006 took place in Jena, Germany, hosted by the Center for Applied Developmental Science (CADS) and the Collaborative Jena-Haifa Research Group on adolescent Diaspora immigrants. Here you can find the program and some impressions. index September 2006 Every participant was informed about the ending of the project and received a final Thank you-letter from the project staff. index August 2006 Nadja Walther hands in her diploma thesis on "Developmental Timetables of Ethnic German Immigrants: A Cross-Sectional Analysis". The last steps of data collection for the fourth wave are completed. index June 2006 Andrea Michel, coming back from studying abroad, continues to work as a research assistant. Unfortunately, Muriel Helbig leaves the department (but continues to work for our university). We wish her all the best for her future and thank her for the engagement and the work she did in our project. index May 2006 Our group organized a symposium on "Ethnic and racial minority adolescents: The challenges of being different" together with researchers from Austria (Dagmar Strohmeier), Greece (Vassilis Pavlopoulos, Frosso Motti-Stefanidi) and the US (Jacqueline Eccles). In her dissertation thesis, she will be trying to identify different trajectories for delinquency and differential predictors for delinquency among native and ethnic German adolescents. index December 2005 The German and Israeli collaborators meet in Jena: The state of the project, publications, and the plans for the upcoming conference in 2006 are discussed. The questionnaire is adapted to better fit the changed needs of participants (due to ageing and advancement in education) according to ZUMA's recommendations. Questionnaires are printed. index September 2005 A symposium "Jugendliche Immigranten: Akkulturation, Gewalt und Zukunftserwartungen" is organized by Peter Titzmann and Dagmar Strohmeyer at the 17th meeting of the Fachgruppe Entwicklungspsychologie in Bochum.
