Social psychology

Social psychology endeavours to understand and explain the development and change of the thoughts, emotions and behavior of individuals under the actual, imagined or assumed influence of others. Social psychology deals therefore with the structures and processes of social influence in the interactions between individuals, as well as within and between groups, on the basis of theories supported by empirical or experimental scientific methods.

Social psychology is an examination subject in the basic component of psychology studies ('Grundstudium') and an optional subject in various related disciplines. In the advanced course of psychology ('Hauptstudium'), relations between social groups is offered as a research-oriented subject.
